New Haven Church Street Banner Weathervane

New Haven Church Street Banner Weathervane

The New Haven Church Street Banner Weathervane completed in 2009 was part
of a total restoration of a prominent building in New Haven, CT.
Located on the Town Green, this building was originally built in 1927, and was
suffering from a lack of preservation. The restoration included the rehabilitation of all
exterior masonry, the replacement of all windows, and the
rebuilding/regilting of the 24k gold dome and weathervane.
The property’s restoration has placed it in line to achieve
national historic landmark status.
T
he original banner made in 1926, was cut in wood and clad in copper.
The new banner was fabricated in 1/4″ thick plate copper with special
engineering considerations for complying with installation parameters.

SkyArt refurbished the original copper corbels, a copper onion form, and 10″
copper ball.
Lastly, SkyArt collaborated with management regarding the
LED lighting  hub for the banner  and provided copper parts needed to
complete particular  aspects of this  installation.
